The islands of Vilimalé and Gulhifalhu have officially been linked following the structural connection of bridge segments under the ongoing Thilamalé Bridge project.
The achievement marks a major technical milestone for the five hundred million dollar Greater Malé Connectivity Project. Overall construction progress on the maritime bridge network has now passed eighty percent completion, with engineering teams successfully installing the connecting superstructure across the deep ocean channel separating the two islands.
With the physical connection between Vilimalé and Gulhifalhu now established, focus shifts toward completing remaining marine viaduct segments and advancing civil works extending to Thilafushi. The completed infrastructure network will integrate Malé, Vilimalé, Gulhifalhu, and Thilafushi into a continuous transport corridor, easing urban congestion and streamlining industrial logistics across the capital region.
