Mohamed Shaffan Ismail and Malaaka Binthi Muizzu have emerged victorious in the singles division of the thirty first Table Tennis Association Championship, securing top honors following exceptional court performances during the final matches of the national tournament.
The high stakes competition saw both athletes navigate challenging match brackets to claim their respective titles. In the women's singles final, Malaaka produced a dominant four set victory over rival Malak Thaseen, maintaining control through tight baseline rallies to sweep the sets eleven eight, eleven eight, eleven nine, and eleven eight. Meanwhile, veteran competitor Shaffan added to his growing collection of national titles with a commanding victory in the men's singles final, further solidifying his position among the top ranked table tennis players in the country.
The championship took place under unique circumstances, as top Maldivian players Fathimath Dheema Ali and Aishath Rafa Nazim were absent from this year's roster while pursuing higher education studies overseas. Beyond their singles success, both champions made significant impacts across partner categories, with Shaffan pairing alongside Mohamed Khalaf Rafiu to claim the men's doubles crown, while Malaaka joined forces with Moosa Munsif Ahmed to capture the mixed doubles title.
